About Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge

Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge is a 4-star lodge inside Amboseli National Park, in Kenya. It has a restaurant, a bar, a snack bar, a heated pool and a garden. Guests also share a lounge with a TV and a terrace. Private parking is free, and so is the Wi-Fi, which covers the whole lodge. The front desk offers luggage storage, a concierge service and currency exchange.

Location

The lodge stands inside Amboseli National Park, in Kenya. Amboseli Airstrip is 7 km away as the crow flies. Every morning, AirKenya and Safarilink connect it to Nairobi's Wilson Airport, on a 40-minute direct flight. A shuttle runs to the lodge for a fee.

By road, allow four hours from Nairobi, via Emali and Iremito Gate. From Namanga, the road enters the park through Meshanani Gate. The park gates close at 6 p.m., so arrive before then.

Rooms

Every room has a terrace and a view of Kilimanjaro. Inside, you get a wardrobe, a desk, a seating area, a phone and a kettle with everything for tea and coffee. Rooms also have a fan and a mosquito net.

The private bathroom has a shower, a hairdryer and free toiletries. The lodge has family rooms and connecting rooms. Cribs are free on request, for children up to 3 years old.

Dining

Breakfast is a buffet, continental or English, with vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher and gluten-free options. For full days on safari, the lodge prepares packed lunches.

The restaurant serves kids' menus, and meals for special diets on request. The lodge also hosts themed dinners and cooking classes. A bar and a snack bar serve drinks and light bites.

Leisure

The outdoor pool is heated and open all year, to all ages. It has a shallow area, sun loungers and towels. The lodge offers massages, at extra cost, and wellness packages. It also stages shows and organizes visits to experience the local culture, at extra cost.

You are inside the park: the game drive starts the moment you leave the lodge. The lodge runs game drives at extra cost, and you can also drive your own 4x4. The park is small, 392 km², and one day is enough to cover it.

Amboseli's elephants have been tracked one by one since 1972. They spend the hot hours in the swamps, with buffaloes and hippos. Lions and hyenas follow the herds, and cheetahs show up on the short grass. The park has no rhinos.
